A common recipe for Kickstarter success is to take a low-tech consumer product that hasn’t changed much in decades, add some Bluetooth capability and a compatible smartphone app and voila, you’ve got a brand new “smart” gadget.
On my site Krowdfund, I have featured Kickstarted smart lights, smart locks, smart stoves, and even a smart shower.
But we may have just finally jumped the “smart” shark with HidrateMe, a Bluetooth-enabled water bottle that monitors your water consumption and lights up when you need to rehydrate. In just over two weeks, HidrateMe has raised over $300,000 from more than 4,200 backers.
