Kia is done playing coy. By marketing a sub-$25k, hybrid, subcompact crossover, its basically screaming “Millennials – GIVE US YOUR MONEY.” Should we, or anyone else, for a Niro?
Essentially a Prius Prime-killer, the Niro is a PHEV: a hybrid that can run on just battery power for ~30 miles. After running out of juice, it’ll run like a normal hybrid, getting ~50mpg.
More conservatively styled than the Prime, the Niro handles better, accelerates fasters and has folding seats to accommodate triple the cargo space. Though suffering from a clunky powertrain, it may just be the better car overall.
