Food scarcity in metro Atlanta is a serious problem. Now more than ever, help is needed. The Atlanta-based Captain Planet Foundation recently launched the new Project Giving Garden initiative to fill this need.

With partners Food Well Alliance and Atlanta Community Food Bank, the foundation will plant and maintain more than 400 school and community gardens across several counties. Then distribute a potential 250,000 pounds of resulting produce to students and their families impacted most by the COVID-19 crisis.

The program also provides jobs for up to 20 young urban farmers and ensures students have productive gardens when school returns.
