Discover Atlanta’s vibrant Kwanzaa celebrations

by The 100 Companies

Kwanzaa, a celebration of African American and Pan-African culture, community and family, spans Dec. 26 to Jan. 1. Created in 1966 by Dr. Maulana Karenga, the holiday emphasizes seven principles known as Nguzo Saba.

In Atlanta, vibrant events spotlight this rich heritage. The Auburn Avenue Research Library hosts its Annual Kwanzaa Celebration in partnership with Giwayen Mata, an all-women dance and percussion ensemble. The Atlanta Regional Kwanzaa Association coordinates events citywide, including workshops, performances and community gatherings. On Saturday, Dec. 14, the 13th Annual Ujamaafest will take place. Lastly, the Gwinnett County Black Chamber of Commerce has its Kwanzaa Celebration: Ujima 2024.
