Though Harper Lee has chosen to lead a mostly private life in her native Monroeville, Alabama since granting her last interview in 1964, we’ve been able to grab fleeting glimpses as portrayed in films.
Catherine Keener played her in the 2005 film Capote, followed by Sandra Bullock the next year in Infamous. Now, you can spend an hour with “Nelle,” (Harper’s first name) in playwright Melita Easter’s heart-warming one-person play, Nelle’s Story: The World of Harper Lee, in Midtown’s intimate Synchronicity Theatre.
Carolyn Cook directs Mandi Lee as the reclusive author. The first run has been extended through August 9.
