Individuals with 22q.11.2, the deletion of a section of the 22nd chromosome, can have over 180+ potential symptoms including heart defects, immune system problems, learning challenges, mental health illnesses and much more.
Medella Mental and Behavioral Health, Inc. is hosting “Dining in the Dark” in McDonough at the McDonough Square May 23 to promote community awareness on behalf of the area’s 22q population and those living with mental illness.
Some of the proceeds will benefit the University of Pennsylvania and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia for continued mental illness and 22q research, which strikes one out of every 2,000-4,000 infants.
