by

“Thank you” is a staple of our Southern vernacular, but overuse can dilute it into a powerless, obligatory platitude. Instead, huge power lies in sincerity and specificity.

Think of five people who deserve your appreciation this week. Instead of the obligatory “thanks,” try “I really appreciate how you XYZ because XYZ.” Carefully gauge their reaction; has their mood and your relationship improved?
