Downtown Disney is getting a makeover. The 30-year-old retail/entertainment/dining district in Orlando is transitioning to Disney Springs, and upon completion in 2016 will have more than 150 venues.
I had lunch at one of the new additions, The Boathouse, a huge upscale nautically themed restaurant built on the water with dockside bar, raw bar, three dining rooms and good seafood and steaks at yacht club prices.
Guests can also get out on the water. Options include cruising in a wooden Italian water taxi, a tour for two on an antique steamboat or a land/sea adventure in a restored vintage Amphicar.
