The partnership between Delta and Virgin Atlantic takes flight in Atlanta this week with adventurous business magnate Richard Branson’s airline, founded in 1984, operating one of Delta’s three daily flights from London Heathrow to Atlanta.
Delta bought a 49 percent share in Virgin Atlantic last year, and the airlines operate under a codeshare agreement for trans-Atlantic and domestic routes. Virgin Atlantic showed off its new Boeing 787 Dreamliner in our city recently, although we won’t get to fly on it — it’s for the London to Boston route.
For flights from Atlanta, the Dreamliner remains that for now, just a dream.
