Travel + Leisure, a national travel magazine, recently named Savannah, Georgia, one of the country’s top 15 cities to visit, ranking at No. 3. The recognition comes from the magazine’s annual World’s Best Awards survey, highlighting the best in travel, including airlines, cities, cruises, hotels and resorts each year.
Over 700,000 votes were cast in this year’s survey, with readers rating cities based on culture, food, friendliness, sights, value and more. Voters noted the city’s leafy parks, great shopping, carriage rides and cemetery tours as reasons for its likeability.
Other top southern cities include Charleston, South Carolina and New Orleans, Louisiana.
