It’s official, the world’s most popular sporting event is coming to our city – Atlanta make way for the FIFA World Cup.

For the first time in its history, the quadrennial international men’s soccer tournament will take place in three host nations: the United States, Mexico and Canada. Within these countries, 22 cities competed for bids to host matches. Only 16 secured the nod, including Atlanta.

After previously hosting the Olympics, the Super Bowl, the Final Four and the College Football Playoff National Championship, the World Cup will become now another landmark event that Atlanta can add to its growing list.
