Georgia Department of Revenue is following the lead of the U.S. Treasury Department and Internal Revenue Service to give taxpayers more time to file their 2020 tax returns. The deadline for both federal and state income tax filings and payments for individuals has been extended from April 15 to May 17.
Although extended, filers are encouraged to start filing as soon as possible. Tips to help the process include:
• Have all tax documents easily accessible.
• Schedule time to sit down and file so you’re not rushed.
• Utilizing a filing service such as TurboTax or H&R Block can help reduce time.
