May Is Mental Health Awareness Month

by

One in five Americans suffers from mental illness. But everyone is affected by mental illness through a friend or family. Plus, given heightening stress rates among the younger generations and abhorrent trends in overmedication, mental illnesses rates are surely rising.

Since 1949, the National Institute of Mental Health has observed May as Mental Health Awareness Month to spread awareness of common and dangerous mental illnesses.

How can you help? Take the StigmaFree Pledge, and spend a few minutes researching the mental illnesses suffered by friends or family. Your understanding and support will help those in need start a healthy conversation.
