While driving through Decatur on empty stomachs, we noticed a bright red storefront eatery beckoning us with the words, “Arepa Mia.” I quietly said the words to myself, but within earshot of my wife, who immediately got excited about savoring the restaurant’s warm Venezuelan corn cakes.
We soon found ourselves tucking into brunch cachapas (corn pancakes) with eggs, guayanés cheese, bacon and cilantro sauce, a side of tajadas con nata (fried sweet plantains) and refreshing glasses of passion fruit juice.
Arepa Mia’s motto is, “Happy stomach, warm heart.” After a meal like that, I can attest to their motto’s truth.
