The Atlanta Botanical Gardens recently introduced its newest exhibit titled “SUPERNatural: Aerial Art in Motion.” Displayed through Sept. 19, the exhibition includes a ginormous, custom-made “skynet,” a sculpture of streamers that appear to be floating through the air. Named “Dream Flora,” the streamers represent a flock of colorful birds.
The art installation was created by Patrick Shearn of Los Angeles-based Poetic Kinetics. To make the skynet, Shearn wove together red, orange, yellow and purple nylon streamers and attached them to fishing net webs. It was then hung by ropes in the trees above Storza Woods to ripple in the air.
