April brought purple showers, memorial flowers and national headlines to the Fox Theatre. First the venue lost its two-time savior, Joe Patten (aka “The Phantom of the Fox” – memorialized in The New York Times), who died April 7 following an illness.
The hall shone days later with Prince, who played two “Piano and a Microphone” concerts no one predicted would be his last.
In just two weeks since the artist’s untimely death, countless reports and tributes surfaced, including concert photos. One audio recording including Prince talking and singing to Atlanta fans remains online for those still celebrating his life.
