Front porches across the Oakhurst neighborhood are transforming into musical stages October 18 for the inaugural Oakhurst Porchfest.
The hiatus of the Oakhurst Arts and Music Festival inspired neighborhood residents to mimic a grassroots community festival that began eight years ago in Ithaca, New York, and has since spread across the nation. Each sponsored porch, stoop or driveway will feature one musician for one hour. Porches are encouraged to become as funky as possible.
The free event is family friendly and not limited to Oakhurst residents. Though musical and porch applications are closed, you can still sign up to volunteer.
