The large parking lot on 680 Spring St. NW, next to The Varsity, could soon be redeveloped into a 560-unit student high-rise.
According to reports, the Gordy family, which owns The Varsity and the parking lot adjacent to the building, is under contract to sell the two-acre parking lot to Landmark Properties. Landmark Properties is an Athens-based company also known for developing The Standard, another student housing tower near The Varsity.
Plans for the tower include amenities such as a pool, fitness center and study space. The ground floor will have commercial and retail space and its own parking deck.
