New affordable housing is on its way for unhoused individuals in Atlanta.
Mayor Andre Dickens announced last month that the Invest Atlanta Board of Directors had approved a line of credit for up to $7.5 million to start the project. The line of credit, financed through the City of Atlanta Housing Opportunity Bond Fund, will allow for about 500 low-cost micro units to be built quickly.
The city shared that the newly announced rapid housing initiative will serve as temporary, semi-permanent or permanent shelters and housing for the unhoused population. The first location should be ready by the end of 2023.
