The Midtown Connector Project, a plan to build a park over Interstates 75/85 in Atlanta, has just received federal funding. The groundbreaking project will build more than 16 acres of greenspace over the roadway between North Avenue and Fifth Street, connecting eastern and western Midtown.

Plans for the futuristic project include reflecting ponds, walking trails and more, providing a more walkable area to connect Atlanta inhabitants. Congress approved more than $3 million for the city of Atlanta going towards the planning and engineering process.

Construction could start by the end of 2024, with the goal to open the park in 2028.
