Crunch numbers to enhance chance of success

crunching numbers

Leadership is a favorite topic for sages, and grand quotes about vision, inspiration and bold action abound.

My view aligns with Peter Drucker: “Leadership is defined by results, not attributes.”

Good leaders analyze all possible courses of action and the risks of each, quantifying the range of outcomes. They “crunch the numbers,” then challenge the key assumptions and crunch the numbers again. Only when armed with that knowledge do they set their course. Thorough quantitative analysis enhances a leader’s chances of success.

Leadership is always judged in hindsight, after the battle, the game or the market value has been determined.
