Georgia sits at the southern end of “Auto Alley” – the term for states between the Great Lakes and Gulf Coast, where automobile manufacturing is the highest in the United States.
Eight of the top automakers have manufacturing plants across the South, including the Kia plant in West Point, Georgia. Georgia alone has more than 250 manufacturing facilities employing more than 20,000 people.
Atlanta-based KBD Group contributes to the South’s rise with two new projects. The first – Yokohama’s tire plant in West Point, Mississippi – opens for business next month, while the second – Continental Tire’s facility expansion – begins construction next quarter.
