Atlanta’s late Mayor Maynard Jackson, Jr. was so respected that the city’s airport and new international terminal both bear his name. The first elected African-American mayor of a major southern city, Jackson was hailed for many accomplishments, including his assistance in bringing the Olympics to Atlanta.
Auburn Avenue Films is raising $800,000 for Maynard, a documentary directed by Emmy-winner Samuel Pollard. Though crowdfunding recently closed, donations are still accepted here.
As our country tries to heal from recent shootings, killings and riots, stories such as Jackson’s can be a beacon, shedding light on how good works keep the country moving forward.
