As a child, my moods swung with the fortunes of the Atlanta Falcons. (This is where you say I must’ve had a depressing childhood.)
Later, working amidst other NFL tribes, I’d scan UPI and AP teletypes for news of my home team. It was often bad.
There’s been hope: Steve Bartkowski, Chris Chandler, Michael Vick and the durable, reliable Matt Ryan.
While others watch for another new coach, I keep an eye on behind-the-scenes management team moves, such as Arthur Blank’s hiring away my best buddy Mike Egan from a stellar 31-year career at King & Spalding.
Hope springs eternal.
