Last Halloween, I tricked neighborhood kids, pulling out two bowls and asking them to choose either two smaller pieces from one bowl or one larger from another. Worked like a charm, keeping inventories high until a smart 11-year-old girl paused, looked up and asked, “Hmmm, what would you do?” She got a bonus!
