Itching to feel younger? Surround yourself with shrubbery. A recent Toronto study found that having an average of 10 or more trees lining a block improved how people rated their health as much as an annual income increase of $10,000, moving to a neighborhood with a $10,000 higher median income or being seven years younger can.
A U.S. study also found correlation between tree-lined pathways and fewer low-weight births. Studies show increases in home prices when trees are prevalent nearby.
As studies emerge, it’s clear “the City in a Forest” has more reasons than ever to keep its coveted nickname.
