The restored cyclorama painting, “The Battle of Atlanta,” will once again be on public display beginning Feb. 22 at the Atlanta History Center, 127 years to the day after its initial Atlanta debut.
Standing 49 feet tall, weighing 10,000 pounds and longer than a football field, the 132-year-old, hand-painted work began as a visual story of the Battle of Atlanta, offering an in-depth, 360-degree perspective. The masterpiece showcases the city’s complicated history, but evolved into an artifact with a complicated history of its own.
High turnout is anticipated, so advanced ticket purchases are encouraged.
