If you took your DeLorean time machine to 1916, you would have difficulty navigating Georgia’s dirt roads. To improve this, the State Highway Department (today’s Department of Transportation) was created in August 1916.
To celebrate its centennial, the department is issuing a Student Art Challenge for K-12 students to visually answer the question, “What does the future of transportation in Georgia look like to you?”
Students must include “What Moves Me” in their title, follow guidelines and have entries postmarked by January 22, 2016. Winning artwork will be displayed around the state and reproduced in a set of centennial postcards.
