Here’s the difference between BMW and Mercedes: BMW makes luxurious sports cars and Mercedes makes sporty luxury cars. To illustrate, BMW’s entry-level 2 Series is a full second quicker to 60 than the A-Class, but just look at the difference in interiors.
For that reason, I expected the all-new GLB to be a docile cocoon of luxury, scoffing at the BMW’s frivolities as it sipped 93-octane, pinkies out. But it isn’t. It’s firm, fast and fun. It’s more jackrabbit than German shepherd.
The somewhat plasticky interior is easy to forgive considering this car’s $37k starting price and superb driving dynamics.
