There’s plenty to like about the new RAV4, from matured looks to a “take me off-road” attitude and well laid-out interior. It also boasts another design decision I think every car should have: a rubberized volume knob.
Still, it’s not quite the quantum leap forward I was hoping for. The RAV4’s engine is loud, raspy and missing low-end torque: a vexing misstep from the company that makes Lexus.
The new RAV4 shines overall, but each time I put my foot down, it felt like watching my star student completely bomb the last question on the final exam.
