Is the 2019 Honda Insight better than a Prius?

The Insight is a mightily impressive vehicle. Compared to the Prius, the Insight offers more mature looks, a more luxurious interior, faster acceleration and an extra MPG (55 vs. 54).

I was decidedly apprehensive, however, to hear they’d mated the electric motor to a CVT transmission. Of the dozen or so CVTs I’ve tested, only the one in the Kia Forte pleasantly surprised by simply not being terrible. Thankfully, the Insight’s CVT joins that list by offering adequate torque and a dignified hum, versus the usual unbearable drone.

I’m thoroughly impressed by how much car you get here for <$30k.
