2019 Mitsubishi Outlander can’t compete with its own little brother

To start on a positive note, I genuinely enjoyed the Outlander Sport, the Outlander’s little brother. Spritely, fun-to-drive and cheap, the baby Outlander pleasantly surprised. Its big brother, however, didn’t.

While the Sport felt tight and agile, the Outlander felt slow, bulky and clumsy to the point of unease. At ~$25k it’s cheap for a three-row, but so are competitors the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Santa Fe, which also offer significantly better looks, tech and standard options.

I’m rooting for Mitsubishi. If the team behind the Outlander Sport can modernize the Outlander, we might have a winner.
