Some car shoppers just want a basic car, something to commute in for a lease cheaper than a summer air-conditioning bill.
If that’s you, Toyota offers three options: the $23k Camry, the $19k Corolla, and the $17k Yaris iA. Like wine in a restaurant, the second cheapest option is the best, right? The Corolla is indeed palatable, featuring generous standard equipment and pleasing ride quality. However, I personally prefer the Yaris iA, which is secretly a rebadged Mazda2 and features a nicer interior and sublime driving dynamics.
Still, for a basic car, the Corolla is an above average contender.
