What’s the best car for $100,000?

I’m frequently asked by more affluent friends, “What car should I get? My budget is $100,000, and there are too many choices.” Oh, the problems I wish I had.

For silky-smooth refinement, the Mercedes S550 outsells rivals for a reason. For those who prioritize speed and sun over comfort, a used Porsche 911 Cabriolet is the obvious choice. If you like to ride high in the seat, load up an Audi Q7.

For my money, I’d get the most underappreciated car in the segment: a Mercedes-AMG GT. It’s comfortable, dependable, reasonably practical, breathtakingly beautiful and ludicrously fast.
