If I could offer new grads one piece of advice, it would be to put down the phone and pick up pen and paper. The convenience of sending a text message or an email, and almost instantly receiving a reply, has allowed us to stray from handwritten letters, and I say it ends now.
Not only does it show deeper investment, interest and appreciation, handwriting a note sets you apart. It’s also a good creative exercise for the brain. In a world of copy-and-paste emails, it’s easy to follow the crowd. I dare you to handwrite a note.
