Hoping to spark a fresh start for the struggling school, leaders at D.H. Stanton Elementary School wanted a name change that signaled success and opportunities for students.
In one of the most visible actions of Atlanta Public Schools’ (APS) newly formed GO Teams, that school’s GO Team members worked with APS leaders to rename the school Barack and Michelle Obama Elementary.
“This name change speaks to the spirit of what the GO Teams were designed to do, to be a voice to the voiceless,” said Noletha High, APS School Governance Coordinator.
