I admire our world’s religions for different reasons.
The Buddhists encourage meditation, which helps center us and makes us more mindful and productive. I admire Islam for their month of fasting, which focuses the mind. I admire Judaism for emphasizing tradition, community, family and a structured life.
Here at Christmas, we’re reminded of Jesus’ birth and what he asked his followers to do: to believe and have faith in God, to be charitable to the poor, care for the sick and above all, love one another. While many of us practice this in December, it’s a better lesson year-round.
