Steve McCoy, a well-known voice in Atlanta radio on Star 94, Z93, B98.5 and Talk 106.7 since the 80s, found joy in making Atlantans’ mornings brighter.
Now, McCoy and his family could use the community’s support. After battling Parkinson’s disease for the past 15 years, McCoy has been left almost completely speechless, and his care has taken a financial toll. A fundraiser, organized by his longtime co-host, Vikki Locke, will take place Aug. 27 at the Punchline Comedy Club.
A GoFundMe page is also live, with half the proceeds going to a nonprofit that provides financial support for caregiving.
