What happens when two former WW II soldiers who have been performing as jazz musicians in Paris for 10 years decide to bring their mixed-race act back to Georgia? That’s the question addressed in the play “Nick’s Flamingo Grill,” making its debut on the Hertz Stage of the Alliance Theatre Sept. 29 to Oct. 28.
Author and playwright Phillip DeBoy was inspired by the true story of the first integrated jazz club in Atlanta. He collaborated with jazz pianist Tyrone Jackson to include 10 original jazz songs in the 1950s style.
Tickets start at $25 and are available online.
