Last week, the Atlanta School Board approved raises for all 6,200 employees. The unanimous vote approved a 2% pay increase for all teachers and full-time staff that went into effect on April 16.
According to the Atlanta Public School (APS) board, this increase will result in an additional $1,300 a year for the average teacher. This is the first pay raise that APS employees have received this school year.
In addition to the APS provided raises, a bonus plan unveiled in January by Gov. Kemp includes $230 million in federal stimulus funds for Georgia educators for their work during the pandemic.
