Fueled by NPR Fresh Air’s Terry Gross and her glowing recommendation, I visited the Alliance Theatre last weekend to see Disgraced, a Pulitzer Prize-winning play.
Disgraced tells the story of Amir Kapoor, a successful corporate lawyer who has distanced himself from his Muslim roots. The play primarily explores Islamophobia and the Muslim-American identity, while also tackling other race, religion and ethnicity issues. The drama climaxes during an explosive dinner party with friends, lovers and colleagues.
The show’s final performances are this weekend and feature post-show conversations with the cast. Tickets start at $20, with group rates available.
