Honoring Martin Luther King Jr. in Atlanta this weekend

by The 100 Companies

Each year, Martin Luther King Jr. Day takes place on the third Monday in January. As the birthplace of Dr. King, Atlanta hosts many opportunities to honor his legacy through community service during the holiday weekend.

Hands On Atlanta offers several volunteer opportunities for Atlantans now through Jan. 16. Thousands of volunteers will gather to help build Dr. King’s “Beloved Community” with access to 100+ projects supporting 40 nonprofits and schools.

The King Center will also observe the holiday with the 2023 Beloved Community Awards Jan. 14 and a special Beloved Community Service Jan. 16 at the Historic Ebenezer Baptist Church.
