The Chamblee Police Department has officially announced its first LGBTQ+ Liaison Program, appointing Officer Brandon White as the inaugural liaison.
Introduced earlier this summer, the innovative program is designed to strengthen the communication, trust and inclusivity between law enforcement and the LGBTQ+ community. Officer White brings both professional experience and personal perspective, having been the victim in Georgia’s first federal hate crime prosecution under the Shepard-Byrd Hate Crimes Prevention Act.
He also successfully completed the LGBTQ Law Enforcement Liaison Academy, hosted by Out to Protect, as part of the department’s efforts to expand and accredit the program for long-term impact.
