The U.S. Postal Service will release a commemorative Forever stamp honoring former President Jimmy Carter on Oct. 1, the date that would’ve marked his 101st birthday.
The stamp was unveiled in a ceremony at the Jimmy Carter National Historical Park in Carter’s hometown of Plains, Georgia. Representatives from the Friends of Jimmy Carter organization and the National Park Service joined USPS at the unveiling.
Featuring a 1982 oil-on-linen portrait created for Carter’s official White House portrait, the stamp celebrates Carter’s enduring legacy, from his presidency and humanitarian work to his Nobel Peace Prize and founding of the Carter Center.
