“I realized the gift I had been given was an entirely different perspective…”
Jane Barwick was representing clients in her busy domestic relations legal practice when a longtime, nagging notion prompted her to invite a friend to lunch. In our video, she describes how her friend intuitively guessed what Jane was contemplating and immediately drove her to Decatur’s Columbia Theological Seminary.
She closed her practice and worked part-time at Atlanta Habitat for Humanity while earning a master’s degree in divinity. She was later appointed Fulton County Magistrate Court judge.
The circuitous – perhaps ironic – route through seminary and back to law “made me a better lawyer and has certainly made me a better judge.”
