In my family, Saturdays were a time to celebrate our Caribbean culture. We would nosh on ackee and saltfish for breakfast and then clean up while listening to Caribbean news and dancing to reggae on the radio.
For years, Jazz 91.9 and WRFG 89.3 were the only stations servicing Atlanta’s Caribbean diaspora. Due to economic pressures, those stations had to scale back or cut reggae programming.
Which is why I was recently surprised and delighted to discover the Saturday night “Authentic Caribbean” show on Majic 107.5/97.5, featuring the latest music and news for the Atlanta Caribbean community. Big up massive!
