Not even my daughter being on crutches would keep us away from the 250-contestant World’s Championship Bar-B-Que last weekend, a pre-party of the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. The only cows we saw were in the form of cowboy boots or on a plate slathered in sauce, but they are there now.
This massive event includes concerts, Western shopping mall, horse and livestock show, carnival, rodeo and plenty of activities for kids, like the Mutton Bustin where 5- and 6-year-olds ride sheep. Around 2.5 million attend the rodeo every year, which runs through March 22 and raises millions for scholarships.
