Say So Long to Scion

by

After 13 years of ups and downs, Scion is following the way of other automotive dodo birds Saab and Saturn. Parent company Toyota is axing the youth-oriented sub-brand after sales have steadily dropped since ‘06.

It’s not a loss for Toyota – millennials are simply buying Camrys and Corollas, which have gone from nerds to prom queens this generation.

The great bang-for-the-buck iA sedan (just a rebadged Mazda2), decent iM hatchback and much-loved FR-S driftmobile will be rebadged as Toyotas in ‘17. Oddly, the bestselling Golf GTI-wannabe tC coupe will retire this year.
