He once lived in poverty and was involved in gang activity. Then he experienced the club life and released secular music. But in 2005, Athens, Georgia native Brother Mario followed his heart to Jesus.
Now Brother Mario draws on his difficult past for inspiration and uses his non-contemporary gospel style to “encourage the world with the love of Jesus Christ.”
The songwriter, rapper and producer is performing Nov. 22 at Apache Café. Between downtown and Midtown, Apache Café hosts a variety of jazz, funk, hip-hop, soul, spoken word and performance art seven nights a week in its 1920s era building.
