I am completely engrossed by the Olympics. While I loved watching the games in person in Atlanta, ’96 and Turin, ’06, I can’t imagine watching a loved one compete for gold and glory.
For Uber driver Ellis Hill though, seeing his son Darrell compete in the shot put in Rio was just too expensive – at least until he picked up Liz Willock in a DNC-gridlocked Philadelphia on July 26.
After hearing about Ellis’ predicament, Liz set up a GoFundMe for the Olympic father, who is packing his bags for Brazil. And Uber gave him a $1,000 ride credit.
